Gas Barbecue Instructions

Operating the Barbecue

  • Remove the cover and store it safely (there are velcro straps on the bottom sides that need to be released)
  • You will find that the barbecue has black thermal mats over the metal bars
    • These help to keep the barbecue clean and should be left in place during use.
    • The mats are changed for each guest. Please do not cook on the open bars in order to help keep the barbecue clean.
    • The mats do not interfere with the normal function of the barbecue, and make it far easier to cook food items that would normally tend to drop between the bars of the grill
    • The mats can be washed between uses
  • To start the barbecue
    • Ensure that the switch on the gas regulator (on top of the gas cylinder, inside the cabinet of the barbecue) is in the “on” position
    • To light the burners, turn one of the control knobs. On the right of the barbecue is a switch that produces sparks to ignite the gas when pressed.
    • Please note that the control second from the left is for the gas side burner. DO NOT SWITCH THIS ON UNTIL YOU HAVE OPENED THE HATCH ON THE LEFT OF THE BBQ.
  • When finished with the barbecue, switch the gas regulator valve back to “off”

About the Barbecue

1-6. There are 6 burners that can be individually controlled.

S. This controls the Side burner, which can be used for pans. Please do not operate this burner unless you raise the lid, and only use for pans, not for cooking on direct.

R. This controls the Rear burner, which can be used to heat the whole inside (main lid down).

Side Controls

A. Press button to ignite gas

B. Press button to illuminate the controls. Please remember to switch the control lighting off when you are finished.

After Using the Barbecue

  • Using the barbecue mats should ensure that there is minimal cleaning required, but please clean any spillages after use
  • Please wash and replace the barbecue tools
  • Wait until the barbecue has fully cooled down before replacing the cover

Health and Safety

  • Switch the gas regulator valve to “off” after you have finished with the barbecue
  • The barbecue gets very hot during use and takes time to cool down after you have finished cooking
    • Always keep children and pets at a safe distance
    • Do not replace the cover while the barbecue is still hot

Changing the Gas Cylinder

  • It should not normally be necessary to change the cylinder, but should this be required:
    • First make sure that the cylinder really is empty, not just switched off at the regulator
    • A spare cylinder can be found in the garage (Care! Cylinders are heavy!)
  • To exchange the cylinder
    • Open the door on the barbecue
    • Turn the switch on the regulator to off
    • Press the switch in and pull the regulator off the tank
    • Replace the old tank with the new one
    • Replace the regulator by pushing it back on the tank. You should hear a click when it is seated.
    • Turn the regulator switch back on and check that the barbecue will now light.
  • Please let the owners know if you have changed the cylinder, so that they can arrange for the old one to be refilled

    Troubleshooting

    The barbecue will not light

    • Ensure that the gas regulator valve (in the barbeque, on top of the cylinder) is switched on.
    • If the barbecue still will not light, it could mean that the gas cylinder needs replacing. Please see the section on "changing the gas cylinder" for how to do this.
